Colossians 3:1-3
"But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord." |
Abbey, who hails from Enterprise, Oregon, first heard
about Teen Missions after her older brother went on a
team in 1990. From that moment she knew that someday,
she too would go on a team. After what seemed like an
eternity of pestering her parents for permission, she
was finally able to sign up for her first TMI team in
1997 – to Pakistan. At the end of her summer, Abbey
committed her life to serving the Lord in full-time
missions. Since that first summer, Abbey had the
chance to go on another team as a team member: ’98
Nampula Hospital, Mozambique. The Lord then opened the
door for her to be a leader: ’00 Turkey, ’01 Cameroon,
’04 Germany, ’05 Australia Work and '06 Siberia.
Knowing that missions were to be a central part of her
life, Abbey obtained a degree in International Studies
and a minor in Biblical Literature from Taylor
University. A highlight of her college career was
studying abroad for a year at Daystar University in
Kenya. While there, she studied African culture and
Bible and developed an incredible love for the diverse
African peoples.
Abbey joined staff in October 2005 and serves in the
Personnel Department. Her hobbies include playing the
piano, sewing, crocheting, listening to music, reading
and playing speed Scrabble.
