The office location of Teen Missions in Canada is in the basement of a
home in Windsor, Ontario. David was born and raised in Windsor and Shirley
is a "prairie chicken" from Saskatchewan. They met while living in rural
British Columbia and moved to Ontario in 1978.
Ten years later, they learned of Teen Missions at the Urbana '87
conference. The Lord made it very clear to them that He wanted them to
raise the missions awareness level in their local church and community.
They attended the Leader Training Seminar at the Canada office in
January, 1988, and were leaders on the Honduras team that same summer.
(Shirley says, Life DOES begin at 40!)
In March of 1992, a need arose at the Canada office "for a short time
or a long time" ... now, 12 years later, they wonder, What's a long
time? What's a short time? With a desire to expand her horizons,
Shirley asked God to send people from all over the world to the Canada
office ... for a short time or a long time! Sharing the office/home
responsibilities with Teen Missions people from Colombia, various
provinces of Canada and a few states of the USA, Thailand, Belize,
England, Madagascar, Zimbabwe and Indonesia have been His response to
those prayers.
David has a hobby to restore a 1954 Chevy truck and has a vibrant local
ministry among new immigrants and refugees.
Shirley enjoys swimming, sewing, choreography and a study of the
Hebraic roots of Christianity.
Not having any children of their own, serving the Lord through the
ministry of Teen Missions International as the Canadian Coordinators
makes it possible for The Charrons to encourage and facilitate the
involvement of Canadians in the worldwide opportunities available to
all ages through TMI.
