Andy was born and raised in the Atlanta suburbs of Georgia accepting Christ when he was nineteen, his first exposure to missions was participating as a team member on a Teen Missions team to Nicaragua. It was on the team that he felt the pull toward missions, giving him the desire to help lead two teams, one to Suriname and one to Venezuela before he began attending classes at the Bible, Missionary & Work (BMW) Training Center. While attending the three-year program, he led several teams of teenagers to places like Deer Lake, Canada and a horseback team to Honduras. Carrie grew up in Belvedere, west of Chicago. She was 14 when she made her decision to follow the Lord and soon after expressed a desire to participate on a Teen Missions team. During the summers of her sophomore and junior years of high school she went with TMI to Germany and Poland. After ten years of pursuing other career choices, she found her way back to TMI, leading a team to Malawi, Africa. Just a short time later, she began attending classes at the BMW. While participating in the program, she led a team to Thailand. Within the year that Andy and Carrie attended classes together, it became obvious that the Lord wanted them together in service with Him. They were married at the Teen Missions headquarters under the big top rally tent with the entire Boot Camp in attendance. One week later they led a choir team of teens to Uganda, Africa. During the next six years of service with TMI they led several more teams to places like Prince Edward Island, Malawi, Australia and a stateside team at the TMI headquarters in Florida. I was also during this time that they spent a year living in Malawi overseeing the 250 acres of property, which included a Bible school, national Boot Camp and a farm with gardens, goats and chickens. While serving with Teen Missions both of their children were born. Rebekah (Bekah) age seven and Andrew (Drew) age five who have accompanied them on several of their teams.
Just three years ago they moved north for some much-needed rest, the opportunity to slow down, spend time as a family and eliminate their growing debt due to declining support. About a year ago it became clear that the Lord was opening the door for them to return to missions. They immediately knew that the Lord was brining them ‘home’ to TMI. After a year of support raising, they are excited about joining staff once again. They look forward to the mighty work that the Lord is going to do through them as they go serve Him at the Teen Missions in Belize base. |
